The NOGI world champion and 2x Panams champion is one of the most exciting grapplers at the moment.
Last month we had the chance to visit BJJ Summerweek in Sardinia, one of the biggest Jiu-jitsu camps in Europe with more than 500 attendees, 14 world champion class professors and an amazing vibe. At the venue we had a chat with Tata Ribeiro who was also attending the camp.
Nathalie told us about her first steps in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, how her parents inspired her to start training when she was only 9 years old and who she has been looking up to since she started competing.
We had the opportunity to talk about her doubts and fears and how she faces them on and off the mats. Listening to such a high level grappler dealing with these issues and getting to overcome them, seeing her challenging herself is always inspirational.
She also got a few pieces of advise for women who are thinking about starting training and for gym owners to make their academies safer after all the news on sexual harassment and sexual abuse.
As she is facing Ffion Davies at the Flograppling show WNO, Tata shared with us her opinion on the Welsh fighter, her training strategies to get ready for that fight and about European BJJ in general.
